Completed in the late 1950s, this tower rises southeast of the cathedral with a top-heavy, mushroom-like profile carried on exposed concrete struts. Designed by the BBPR studio, it deliberately echoes the medieval towers of Lombardy while remaining resolutely modern, and it became a landmark of postwar Italian architecture. The lower floors held offices and the widened upper section contained flats. Though not generally open inside, its silhouette is a familiar reference point on the Milan skyline.
