Parc du Thabor

This large public garden in the centre of Rennes combines a formal French parterre, an English-style landscaped park, and a botanical collection on the site of a former abbey garden. Rose beds, an aviary, a bandstand, and mature specimen trees make it a favourite retreat for residents throughout the year. Statues and a small cave-like grotto add romantic touches among the greenery. Its varied styles, gathered within a single enclosure, reflect the layered tastes of the nineteenth-century designers who shaped it.
