This grand seventeenth-century palace was built to house the sovereign court of the province of Brittany and remains a symbol of the region's former autonomy. Its dignified classical facade and lavishly decorated ceremonial halls, hung with paintings and gilded panels, reflect the power once wielded here. A fire in the 1990s gutted much of the interior, and the meticulous restoration that followed is itself part of the building's story. Now a court of appeal, it can be visited on guided tours of its restored grand chamber.
