This baroque cathedral in the heart of the old town of Nice is dedicated to a young martyr who became the city's patron saint. Its richly decorated facade and tiled dome reflect the strong Italian influence on the region, which long belonged to the House of Savoy. Inside, gilded chapels, marble altars, and painted ceilings create an exuberant baroque interior. Set on a small square amid the tangle of old-town lanes, it forms the spiritual centre of historic Nice.
