In eastern Paris, this pedestrian and cycle bridge links the Bibliothèque nationale de France to the Parc de Bercy across the Seine, completed in the 21st century. Its striking design combines a suspended arch and a lens-shaped lower span that intertwine, creating multiple walking levels and a distinctive silhouette. Named for the writer and philosopher Simone de Beauvoir, it is one of the few entirely modern bridges in the historic city. Its curving steel form has become a landmark of the regenerated riverfront districts.
