Housed in the former Collins Barracks on the north bank of the Liffey, this branch of the national museum occupies one of the oldest military barracks in Europe. The eighteenth-century complex, arranged around a large parade square, now displays silver, ceramics, furniture, weaponry and Irish military history. Exhibits trace the country's involvement in conflicts and the story of Irish soldiers abroad. The robust stone architecture and cobbled courtyards form a distinctive setting for the collections gathered here.
