The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden, widely known as the Neasden Temple, is one of the largest Hindu temples outside India, completed in 1995. It was hand-carved from thousands of pieces of Italian marble and Bulgarian limestone in India before being shipped to London and assembled without steel supports, following ancient Vedic building principles. Its intricate domes and carved columns rise above suburban streets, and an exhibition explains Hinduism and the temple's construction. It is a major place of worship.
