The Cordillera Blanca is the highest tropical mountain range on the planet, and Huascarán National Park holds its heart: Mount Huascarán at 6,768 m, ringed by turquoise glacial lakes, torrent-cut ravines and a striking range of vegetation. Spectacled bears amble below peaks patrolled by Andean condors. Peru's alpine showpiece was inscribed by UNESCO in 1985; the Llanganuco lakes make an unforgettable first visit.
