Andalusia lives on in Tétouan. When refugees expelled from Spain after the Reconquest rebuilt this northern Moroccan town, they brought their art and architecture with them, and the medina — Morocco's smallest yet most complete, barely touched by later outside influence — still shows it in every doorway. A key link between Morocco and Andalusia since the 8th century, Tétouan was inscribed by UNESCO in 1997.
