The Archaeological Heritage of Niah National Park’s Caves Complex

Beneath the vast mouth of Niah's Great Cave, archaeologists uncovered traces of people living with the Bornean rainforest for at least 50,000 years — the longest such record known anywhere. Prehistoric paintings and boat-shaped burials mark the massif's northern edge, and local communities still gather birds' nests and guano under the ancient restraint of molong: take only what you need.
