Andrefana Dry Forests

Razor ridges of grey limestone — the tsingy — rise in stone forests so sharp and dense that much of western Madagascar's Bemaraha plateau remains barely explored. First inscribed by UNESCO in 1990 for the Tsingy de Bemaraha, the World Heritage property now spans a series of western dry and spiny forests, from the Manambolo river canyon to baobab country, sheltering endemic lemurs, birds and entire evolutionary lineages found only on this island.
