One of the few inhabited volcanic calderas in the world, its fertile crater floor patchworked with small farms just north of the Mitad del Mundo monument. A viewpoint on the rim gives an instant panorama, while a steep trail descends into the crater's microclimate of orchids and hummingbirds.

Where next?

The world is wide open.
