A long crescent of powdery white sand reached by a 2.5-kilometer paved trail from Puerto Ayora, free to enter and patrolled by marine iguanas rather than lifeguards. The exposed main beach draws surfers, while a sheltered mangrove lagoon at the far end suits swimming and kayaking among reef sharks and rays.

Where next?

The world is wide open.
