A collapsed caldera in the remote northeast of the archipelago, nicknamed Bird Island for its enormous colonies of red-footed boobies, frigatebirds, and storm petrels. Cruises anchor inside Darwin Bay, where a coral beach trail and the Prince Philip's Steps cliff walk offer close encounters at nesting sites.
