A slender 1,300-meter tepui rising alone from the Amazonas rainforest, sacred to the Piaroa people as the stump of the tree of life. A cave system pierces the tower clean through near its summit, and river expeditions from Puerto Ayacucho approach it along the Sipapo and Autana rivers.
