A high-Andean park protecting a chain of volcanoes, including glaciated Nevado del Ruiz and the crater lake of Santa Isabel. Its páramo moorlands bristle with frailejón plants, and acclimatized hikers can push above 4,800 meters on guided summit routes from Manizales or Salento.
