A vast artificial lake created in 1913 to carry ships across the middle of the Panama Canal, once the largest man-made lake in the world. Its flooded forest islands shelter capuchin and howler monkeys, crocodiles, and superb peacock bass fishing. Boat tours from Gamboa weave between transiting container ships and jungle shorelines.

The world is wide open.
