Often called Panama's desert, a stark landscape of cracked earth, salt flats, and eroded badlands on the Azuero Peninsula. The barren scenery is largely the result of historic deforestation, making it a striking open-air lesson in land degradation. Archaeological finds here date human presence back some 11,000 years, among the oldest in Panama.
