El Salvador's largest and most biodiverse protected area, a rugged tract of tropical forest named for a once-deadly gorge crossing on the old coffee route to the coast. Trails climb to ridgeline lookouts over the Pacific and shelter pumas, black-crested eagles and hundreds of bird species.

The world is wide open.
