A high-altitude mining town near Pachuca, also called Real del Monte, where 19th-century Cornish miners left an unexpected legacy of pasties, now sold in dozens of paste shops along the steep streets. Mine museums, an English cemetery, and fog-draped red rooftops give the town a distinctive Anglo-Mexican character.
