A small fishing town on a mangrove-lined estuary at the northern tip of the Yucatán, gateway to a biosphere reserve famous for thousands of American flamingos. Boat tours weave through the ría past crocodiles and wading birds, often stopping at the pink salt ponds of nearby Las Coloradas.
