The oldest fort in Grenada, built by the French around 1705 on a promontory commanding the entrance to St. George's harbour. Its cannon-lined ramparts offer the classic panorama of the Carenage, and the site carries heavy modern history as the place where Prime Minister Maurice Bishop was executed in 1983.
