Plymouth, Montserrat

The abandoned former capital of Montserrat, entombed in volcanic ash and mud by the Soufrière Hills eruptions and often called a modern-day Pompeii. Guided visits, when volcanic activity permits, pass rooftops and church spires protruding from the hardened grey flows.
