A hypersaline lake lying about 40 meters below sea level, the lowest point in the Caribbean and one of the largest lakes in the Antilles. Boat trips visit Isla Cabritos to see American crocodiles and rhinoceros iguanas basking on cactus-studded flats. Fossil coral in the surrounding cliffs records the lake's origin as an ancient marine channel.
