Cuba's second-largest island sits off the southern coast and sees a fraction of the mainland's visitors. Draws include the shuttered panopticon prison where Fidel Castro was once held, black-sand and white-sand beaches, and wall diving at Punta Francés. The slow ferry or small plane required to get here keeps it firmly off the standard circuit.
