Massawa

A Red Sea port spread over two coral islands linked by causeways, layered with Ottoman, Egyptian, and Italian architecture in varying states of atmospheric decay. Coral-block merchant houses and arcaded streets recall its centuries as a trading crossroads. It is also the departure point for boats to the Dahlak islands.
