A rock-hewn church cut into a sandstone pinnacle in the Gheralta range, reached by a barefoot climb up sheer rock faces and a narrow ledge above a long drop. Inside, vividly preserved frescoes of apostles and saints cover the domed ceilings. The combination of exposure and artistry makes it the most storied of Tigray's cliff churches.
