Rwanda's main beach town, spread along the northern shore of Lake Kivu beneath the glow of the Nyiragongo volcano across the border. Sandy public beaches, waterfront hotels, and hot springs give it a resort feel unusual for the region. It is also the northern trailhead of the Congo Nile Trail along the lakeshore.
