Rising from the shore of Lake Schwerin, the palace of the Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg-Schwerin anchors a 19th-century residence ensemble of 38 elements — sacred and cultural buildings, manor houses, parks, canals and the Pfaffenteich ornamental lake among them. Its architecture runs the full historicist register, from Neo-Classical to Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque. UNESCO added the Schwerin Residence Ensemble to the World Heritage List in 2024.
