Luther Memorials in Eisleben and Wittenberg

The Reformation began at a church door in Wittenberg, and the places that shaped it survive across Saxony-Anhalt. This inscription gathers the houses in Eisleben marking Martin Luther's birth in 1483 and his death there in 1546, his living quarters and the home of his ally Melanchthon in Wittenberg, and the castle church where Luther is said to have posted his 95 Theses on 31 October 1517. UNESCO inscribed the Luther memorials as a World Heritage Site in 1996.
