Tash Rabat is a well-preserved stone caravanserai in a narrow valley of the At-Bashy range at approximately 3200 metres elevation, providing shelter for Silk Road travellers crossing toward China. The domed structure, dated to the 15th century, comprises a central hall and some thirty small chambers carved into the hillside, all built from dark stone without mortar. Nomadic yurt camps in the surrounding valley operate in summer, and horses can be hired to ride over the Tash Rabat Pass into China.
