The Kolsai Lakes are a series of three glacially fed alpine lakes in the Northern Tian Shan, sitting at elevations between 1818 and 2850 metres in a forested gorge close to the Kyrgyz border. Each lake is separated from the next by several hours of hiking through spruce forest, with the upper lake lying just below treeline at the edge of high meadows. The deep green water and surrounding peaks draw both day visitors and those undertaking multi-day treks.
