Rosario is Argentina's third-largest city, situated on the western bank of the Paraná River in Santa Fe province. The city is the birthplace of Ernesto Che Guevara and Lionel Messi, and its Monumento a la Bandera — a limestone complex honouring the Argentine flag, designed by Ángel Guido — rises imposingly above the riverfront. The Costanera Sur park along the Paraná provides several kilometres of green promenade with views across the river delta and access to sandy river beaches.
