Jalapão State Park

Jalapão is a remote cerrado wilderness in western Tocantins state, characterised by orange sand dunes rising incongruously above gallery forests, ferruginous hot-spring pools, and fast-flowing crystal rivers. The Fervedouros, natural springs where upwelling water pressure prevents swimmers from sinking, are among the most unusual natural features in Brazil. The isolation and lack of tourist infrastructure mean visitor numbers remain low, preserving the landscape in a largely undisturbed state.
