Chapada dos Guimarães sits on a sandstone plateau north of Cuiabá, forming the hydrographic heart of South America where water drains toward both the Amazon and Paraná basins. The Véu de Noiva waterfall plunges 86 metres in a single free-falling column visible from a viewpoint on the plateau rim. The surrounding cerrado vegetation turns golden and rust in the dry season, producing painterly light for landscape photography.
