Bale Mountains National Park

Lava flows, glaciers and the tearing of the Great Rift Valley combined to sculpt the Bale Mountains, a mosaic of volcanic peaks, escarpments, glacial lakes, forests and waterfalls in southern Ethiopia. The range shelters exceptional and often unique wildlife, and five major rivers rise within it, feeding water to millions of people across Ethiopia and beyond. UNESCO inscribed Bale Mountains National Park as a natural World Heritage Site in 2023.
