A multi-day trekking route through the northern Urubamba mountains passing Andean weaving communities and high-altitude hot spring pools before descending to the Sacred Valley. The trail reaches passes above 4,600 meters and crosses landscapes of glacial lakes, alpaca herds, and traditional stone-wall agriculture. Unlike the Inca Trail, Lares requires no advance permit and sees significantly fewer walkers, passing through villages where traditional Quechua dress remains in daily use.
