An oasis lagoon surrounded by sand dunes reaching heights of 100 meters, Huacachina sits within the Ica desert near the Pacific coast. The lagoon is encircled by palm trees and colonial-era buildings that once served as a resort destination. Dune buggies and sandboarding have become the dominant activities, while sunrise and sunset transform the dune crests into high-contrast photographic subjects against the pale lake.
