A canyon in southern Peru reaching depths of over 3,200 meters — among the world's deepest — carved by the Colca River through volcanic and pre-Inca terraced farmland. The Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint above the canyon narrows provides the most reliable observation point in Peru for Andean condors riding thermal updrafts at close range. Surrounding communities maintain traditional Collagua and Cabana dress and agricultural terraces still in active use.
