A caldera lake formed by the collapse of the Quilotoa volcano, reaching depths of around 250 meters and showing distinctly turquoise-green coloration due to dissolved minerals. The crater rim sits at approximately 3,914 meters and is reached via a road from the indigenous weaving village of Zumbahua. The three-to-four-hour rim hike offers constantly changing perspectives over the crater interior and the surrounding high-plateau landscape.
