A pre-Columbian terraced city built by the Tayrona people in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Ciudad Perdida predates Machu Picchu by several centuries. Access requires a multi-day trek through dense jungle and river crossings, arriving at a hilltop complex of stone platforms and circular terraces. The site remains in active use by indigenous Kogi, Wiwa, and Arhuaco communities.
