Jarabacoa is a highland town at roughly 530 metres elevation in the central Cordillera Central of the Dominican Republic, known as 'the city of eternal spring' for its mild temperatures. The surrounding mountains contain three major waterfalls—Jimenoa Uno, Jimenoa Dos, and Baiguate—along with white-water rafting on the Yaque del Norte, the longest river in the Dominican Republic. Pico Duarte, the highest peak in the Caribbean at 3,098 metres, begins most of its approach trails near here.
