Bocas del Toro is a cluster of islands and cays off Panama's Caribbean coast where coral gardens, mangrove channels, and jungle-covered hills converge within a sheltered lagoon. The main settlement, Bocas Town on Isla Colón, retains painted wooden Caribbean architecture and serves as a base for boat trips to remote beaches and snorkelling sites. Starfish Beach on Isla Bastimentos is named for the large red sea stars visible in the shallows.
