Cahuita protects one of the most accessible coral reef systems in Costa Rica, lying just off a broad arc of Caribbean beach fringed with coconut palms and sea grape trees. The reef, though partially bleached by warm-water events, still supports parrotfish, hawksbill turtles, and a variety of invertebrates. The park's flat jungle trail paralleling the beach is well-suited for casual walking and offers reliable sightings of howler monkeys and iguanas.
