Río Celeste is a river within Tenorio Volcano National Park whose waters take on a vivid sky-blue colour due to a chemical reaction between volcanic minerals and silica particles where two tributary streams converge. The park trail leads through old-growth rainforest to the confluence point, a turquoise waterfall, and a series of hot springs. The saturated blue hue is most intense in the dry season when the water runs lower and clearer.
