Located on the Osa Peninsula in southwestern Costa Rica, Corcovado protects the largest expanse of Pacific lowland tropical rainforest north of the Amazon basin. The park harbours all four of Costa Rica's monkey species alongside tapirs, peccaries, scarlet macaws, and harpy eagles. Access is exclusively on foot or by boat, and overnight permits are required, which keeps visitor numbers low and wildlife encounters remarkably undisturbed.
