Sangay National Park

Sangay's smoking summit rarely rests — it counts among the world's most continuously active volcanoes — and the Ecuadorian park named for it sweeps from Amazonian rainforest up to glacier-hung peaks. Two active volcanoes anchor a wilderness whose isolation shelters mountain tapirs and Andean condors across an unbroken ladder of ecosystems. UNESCO inscribed Sangay National Park as a natural World Heritage Site in 1983.
