Halawa Valley

Halawa Valley at the eastern tip of Molokaʻi is among the oldest continuously inhabited valleys in the Hawaiian archipelago, with archaeological evidence of occupation dating back at least 1,400 years and mooʻolelo — oral histories — extending much further. The valley floor retains working taro cultivation, and guided cultural tours led by residents connect visitors to the living traditions of the community. At the valley's head, the twin falls of Moa'ula and Hipuapua cascade through dense tropical forest accessible on guided hikes.
