Enchanted Rock is a massive pink granite batholith rising 130 meters above the surrounding Hill Country plain near Fredericksburg, one of the largest exposed batholiths in the United States. The rock's bare summit dome offers 360-degree views over the cedar-oak savanna and the Llano Uplift, and the surrounding area contains classic examples of exfoliation domes and vernal pools that support rare invertebrates. The site has been a significant landmark in Central Texas for thousands of years and is mentioned in oral traditions of the Tonkawa and Comanche peoples.
