Wrangell-St. Elias is the largest national park in the United States, covering over 53,000 square kilometers of southern Alaska and encompassing four major mountain ranges including peaks over 5,000 meters. The park contains more glaciers and more glaciated area than any other park in the country, and the historic mining town of Kennecott — a National Historic Landmark — sits within its boundaries. Access is primarily by small aircraft or via unpaved roads, preserving an exceptional degree of wilderness remoteness.
